Clear Skies
and the Waters of Inner Peace
Gurdjieff once said that most people's idea
of happiness
was to eat themselves
into a stupor
well,
tomorrow's a
good chance to do that
or to
go for the real gold:
awareness as we eat
awareness as we open
our mouths to yap, yap
awareness as others speak
and we are tempted to fill our
mind with what we are
going to say, "next."
all that next
stuff
next thing to say
next bite to gobble in
and food,
yum,
one of the few moments we
are
now
when that tastes hits our nervous system
yum
yum
and hey,
one bite
needs
another
and another
and another
and
the tastes in the mouth,
and that social permission to plunge
in
and take it in my the shovelful
and soon the now
of tasting
the deliciousness
has gone into the glog
of stuffed
stupor
ah, happiness
of a sorts
oh, well
it's a sweet life
wonder ful
to wake
up
any
moment
even
now
